CLEAN, DRY COMPRESSED AIR SOURCE
Having a clean, dry compressed air source is essential for any paint operation. The compressed air source must be free from water, oils, and all other contaminants.
When using an air compressor, moisture in the air will naturally condensate and build up in the compressor tank. It is very important to take measures to eliminate this moisture from building up and negatively affecting your finish.
The Harbor Freight Merlin 1/2 in. NPT(F) Industrial Air Filter Regulator is included with every Spectra Chrome LI System. This air filter by itself works well to eliminate moisture. However, we have taken it a step further and made an incredible improvement!
Your filter contains a proprietary super absorbent polymer (SAP) in granule form, impregnated between the yellow and orange pleats of the cylindrical filter cartridge. When moisture enters the air filter canister, the polymer reacts and turns the water into a gel. The SAP filter cartridge is the most cost-effective, high performance solution for completely eliminating moisture in your air lines.

As you continue to use your LI System, air pressure to your spray gun will gradually reduce as the polymer absorbs more moisture; and the SAP filter cartridge will need to be replaced periodically.
To maximize the effective life of the SAP filter cartridge, be sure to drain the condensation out of your air compressor on a regular basis. This is even more important in very humid climates. Additional SAP filter cartridges are available to purchase from Spectra Chrome.
