TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE — METAL SPRAY
NOT ENOUGH SILVER DEPOSIT
The Spectra Chrome silver layer lays down flat and builds up reflectivity as additional solution is sprayed. Depending on lighting conditions in your spray area, it can be hard to accurately judge if enough silver solution has been applied.
Dim lighting in your spray area — as well as dark walls and ceilings — can make it difficult to accurately assess your silver deposit.
Even if your silver looks good to the naked eye, examining it against a white sheet of paper may reveal dull, brown-ish discolored areas where not enough silver solution has been applied.
The fastest and easiest way to see an accurate reflection of your silver layer is to hold up a white sheet of paper against the silver reflection while spraying. Simply continue applying silver solution until all of the brown-ish discoloration disappears and becomes a uniform mirror reflection.
Alternatively; you can periodically stop silvering, rinse with zero TDS water, and check your silver layer against the white paper incrementally.
As long as the part remains wet and has NOT been blown dry, you can always come back and add more silver until the reflectivity is uniform.
Using a high-powered LED “truth light” is also very helpful in identifying adequate silver coverage.
