MIXING METAL SPRAY PRODUCTS

Spectra Chrome silvering solutions come in concentrated form, and must be diluted with zero TDS water to a precise ratio before spraying. We recommend mixing up a minimum of 600ml of each solution – A, B1/B2, and C1/C2. When preparing metal spray solutions, always wear rubber gloves and protective eye goggles.

TEST WATER QUALITY FIRST!

Whether you are using a Culligan ZeroWater system or have purchased jugs of distilled water, your water source should be tested for purity each and every time prior to mixing your metal spray chemistry, to ensure a perfect finish.

  1. Dispense a small quantity of your water source into the large 600ml measuring beaker (to prevent contamination, this beaker should be designated for water only).
  2. Remove the cap from the bottom of your handheld TDS meter, and place the bottom of the meter into the water.
  3. Once you have confirmed that your handheld TDS meter reads all zeros (000), you can proceed with mixing the silver solutions.
PREPARING THE PUMP SPRAYERS

There is a pressure release valve on the side of each pump sprayer. To open the tank, pull up on the valve to release any pressure that may be inside the tank. Then unscrew the pump cylinder out of the tank. Always be sure to lay the pump cylinder on a clean surface so it does not come in contact with contaminants of any kind.

PRODUCT A
  1. Unscrew the green accented pump cylinder from the tank, and pour in 600ml of zero TDS water using the 600ml measuring beaker.
  2. Measure out 10ml of Product A solution using the 100ml measuring beaker labeled “A”, and pour it into the tank.
  3. Replace the pump cylinder into the tank and tighten securely; ensuring a seal is made with the rubber o-ring.
  4. Swirl the tank gently to mix the concentrate.
  5. Pressurize the sprayer by pumping the cylinder approximately 20-25 times, until resistance is felt.

Product A is now prepared as your sensitizer solution; delivered to the green-accented spray wand.

PRODUCTS B1/B2

NOTE: Products B1 and B2 are mixed together in the same pump sprayer tank.

  1. Unscrew the white/black accented pump cylinder from the tank, and pour in 600ml of zero TDS water using the 600ml measuring beaker.
  2. Measure out 20ml of Product B1 solution using the 100ml measuring beaker labeled “B”, and pour it into the tank.
  3. Measure out 20ml of Product B2 solution using the 100ml measuring beaker labeled “B”, and pour it into the same tank.
  4. Replace the pump cylinder into the tank and tighten securely; ensuring a seal is made with the rubber o-ring.
  5. Swirl the tank gently to mix the concentrate.
  6. Pressurize the sprayer by pumping the cylinder approximately 20-25 times, until resistance is felt.

Products B1 and B2 are now prepared as your metal spray solution; delivered to the white-accented spray wand.

PRODUCTS C1/C2

NOTE: Products C1 and C2 are mixed together in the same pump sprayer tank.

  1. Unscrew the red accented pump cylinder from the tank, and pour in 600ml of zero TDS water using the 600ml measuring beaker.
  2. Measure out 10ml of Product C1 solution using the 100ml measuring beaker labeled “C”, and pour it into the tank.
  3. Measure out 10ml of Product C2 solution using the 100ml measuring beaker labeled “C”, and pour it into the same tank.

Products C1 and C2 are now prepared as your reducer solution; delivered to the red-accented spray wand.

ZERO TDS WATER

The blue accented tank is designated for zero TDS water only. It can be filled to any level desired, directly from your gallon jugs of distilled water, once they have been tested and read all zeros (000) on your handheld TDS meter.

Because this zero TDS water will be used to rinse thoroughly during the sequential metalizing process, most applicators fill this tank up to the very top. The unused amount of zero TDS water can be saved until the next time, as long as the pump sprayer lid remains sealed and unopened.

  1. Unscrew the blue accented pump cylinder from the tank, and pour in zero TDS water to the desired level.
  2. Replace the pump cylinder into the tank and tighten securely; ensuring a seal is made with the rubber o-ring.
  3. Pressurize the sprayer by pumping the cylinder approximately 20-25 times, until resistance is felt.

Zero TDS water will be delivered to the blue-accented spray wand.

NOTE: the spray wands from the B and C pump sprayers have been intentionally connected together with two aluminum spacers. The B and C chemistry is delivered to these two wands; and the resultant spray patterns mix in front of the wands, creating the silver deposit. The alignment of the B and C wands is factory calibrated to ensure proper application of the silver layer – please do NOT disconnect, adjust, or reposition.
