FILLER AND SANDABLE PRIMERS
A filler primer builds thickness; and is used to fill in scratches, pits, sanding marks, and other surface irregularities in your substrate.
WHERE TO USE:
Can be used directly over metal etching primer, or old paint / body filler that has imperfections. Great for use over fiberglass, wood, high-density foam, and 3D-printed materials.
PROPERTIES:
Think of this as a “surfacer”. Simply apply, sand flat, and repeat as necessary to achieve a smooth, uniform surface on your substrate.
Similar to filler primer; but less thick. Used as a final, finishing primer to prepare the substrate for Spectra Chrome Basecoat 812-E.
WHERE TO USE:
Use over filler primer (once leveled), or over self-etching primer that already has the desired smooth uniform surface.
PROPERTIES:
Sands to a fine finish; giving a uniform surface. It provides the ideal foundation for Basecoat 812-E.
To get the best looking Spectra Chrome finish, it is important to primer and sand the surface as smooth as possible prior to basecoating. When sanding the primer, we recommend using 600-grit sandpaper.
Apply the degreaser to a clean towel, wipe the degreaser over a small area of the part, then remove it right away with a clean, second towel. Repeat as necessary until the entire part has been cleaned.
Do not allow the degreaser to dry on the part or streaking could occur.
